We aim to achieve net-zero emissions across our value chain by 2040. To meet this goal, we have set science-based targets aligned with the Paris Agreement, striving to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
Climate change threatens people, nature, and the economy. The 2015 Paris Agreement set goals to limit global warming below 2°C. The IPCC states that to keep warming under 1.5°C, CO₂ emissions must be halved by 2030 and reach net-zero by mid-century.
Net-zero means balancing greenhouse gas emissions with removals. The SBTi provides a global standard for businesses to set targets.
Own Operations (Scope 1 & 2): These emissions are less than 1% of Volvo's total. Efforts focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy, aiming to save 150 GWh by 2025.
Use Phase (Scope 3): Emissions from sold products dropped from 323 million tons (2019) to 266 million tons (2022) due to efficiency improvements, sales changes, and cleaner energy. For more details, visit the Volvo Group Climate Page.
